coo wants klout retweets by lady gagaSocial media is not a band-aid for a broken business. Focusing only on Twitter followers, Facebook likes and influence metrics is unlikely to help you meet your business goals.

Integrating social media within the DNA of your business is the only route to success.  Does it take more time? Yes.  Does it take more work? Yes.  Is the end result better? Hopefully yes.

This video is the second in a series title “The Days of Our Social Biz!” In this series Sam meets with the COO who has been instructed by the CEO that the top priority for becoming a social business is increasing their Klout score and getting retweets from celebrities. The sad part is there are many businesses who operate this way.

Check out the video and share your thoughts. We're interested to know if you have some of the same struggles at your company? Are key stakeholders and executive management focusing on the wrong metrics? Do you have a plan to turn them around and help them focus on developing an integrated strategy that will bring better results?

We'd love to hear your ideas for the next episode.  Many thanks to Jure Klepic who provided input to this chapter.

About “The Days of Our Social Biz!” series:

This is the second in a series of an interactive social business video series where you get to be the director!

What makes this fun and unique? Well, you get to be the director. Each episode will end with a thrilling social cliff hanger (well not quite a cliff hanger, but close!)

We will ask the community for input as to what the next segment will be.  You can help direct what tools and tech the team will use. You can help us solve problems, better communicate with stakeholders and even create some funny scenarios based on real time happenings in the social ecosystem.

If you are interested in sponsoring a segment or including your product or service contact me and we will discuss.

Don't forget to check out the first segment CEO Wants Klout!

When you are done viewing the video we ask that you come back here and leave a comment on your recommendations for the next segment.  If your recommendations are chosen we will include your name, business name and a link to your site. Eventually we can enable crowdsourced voting for segment content if there is an interest.
